Repairing the QM2?

One of the passengers on board reported that max speed on 3 pods is 28 knots. When they only use two pods and the diesel engines max speed is about 22 knots (Mickey Arison or Peter Ratcliffe in a Carnival corp quarterly review).

Thank you "cruisin4..." for the feedback, and thank you "Guernseyguy" for pointing out that QM2 can run to 28K on 3 pods. As she is currently running on 3 pods, does not mean that speed is reduced by 25%. I also recall data

that the one extra pod ( 4 total ) only boosts her speed from approx 27/28

to around her full 30K.

Looking at the current revised schedule for South America, after catching up with her orginally published port times, appears as if she will be on time into

San Pedo. After leaving Montivideo tonight, the only ( semi ) significant adjustment nine ports later, is Acapulco - and then only a 3 hour shortened

stay before ( hopefully ) arriving L.A. on time. With that revised time I don't

think there is any way it could be done on an average 22 knots.

Iteresting topic/discussion fellas!

Bob.
