Thirty seven Cruises out of Florida, never walked off with luggage always morning flights have never been late! Not to say it cannot happen.

If you have Global Entry, you can speed up customs and immigration as there is a special line at the port in Fort Lauderdale , but unlike GE at an airport, you have to present the physical card to the CBP officer, so if you qualify for GE, make sure to bring the RFID card with you on your cruise.

Yes, you should be ok, but delays do happen.  One Princess cruise we were delayed several hours in debarkation.  No one was allowed off the ship.  We never were told exactly why--just that it was a customs issue.  We were going on another Princess cruise, so it did not matter to us, but we heard some folks missed early flights.
