Suggestions for luggage storing during day post-cruise

Although we'll debark from our cruise on Sunday morning (most likely), our flight from Ft. Lauderdale doesn't leave until Sunday evening.

 

Does anyone have any suggestions on places we can pay to store our luggage during the day so we don't have to lug it around with us as we spend some time in Miami?

RENT A CAR!... If you're going down to Miami you'll need one anyway, lock the luggage in the trunk. ;)

 

That's going to be your only option, there are no longer lockers anywhere.

Thanks. That's definitely one of the better options. I wasn't sure how good the public transportation is in Miami.

 

Is there anywhere to rent a car near the port so we won't have to get a ride to the airport to rent the car?

You do NOT want to take public transportation from Fort Lauderdale to Miami! :eek:

 

Port Everglades and the Fort Lauderdale airport are adjacent. It's a 5 minute drive from the port to the airport. All of the major rental car companies are located in the "Car Rental Center", which is a large parking garage in the middle of the airport terminals... It would be easiest to just grab a taxi when you get off the ship and take it over there ($10 or so).

 

Thrifty has an off airport site located at the midport entrance to the port, and Budget has one in a strip mall located on SE 17th Street, just outside the northport entrance... However I would book something at the airport itself as it's a much larger facility and will get you in a car and on your way much quicker.

Modnar, you mentioned you are flying home from FFL..where are you disembarking from your ship, Miami or FFL? If Miami I have a suggestion.

We're disembarking in Miami and flying out of Ft. Lauderdale.

 

It looks like Hertz has a rental location at or near the Port of Miami, so that may be the way to go. I'll check the other rental companies, too.

Ohhhhhhhhhh okay, sorry... Yes, Hertz and Avis both have downtown Miami locations 5 minutes from the pier. Some of the other majors will shuttle you to their MIA airport locations, but I'd go for Hertz or Avis downtown and just grab a taxi as that would be the quickest and easiest.
