LinnieNJ Posted March 31, 2006 #101 Share Posted March 31, 2006 Hi Guys...the info on the lobsters is in the thread titled "My March 19th Magica Review"....I think near the end- apparently some found the lobsters to be too mushy and one said they had the taste of iodine. I have no lobster tastebuds myself - honest, it just tastes like the melted butter to me! So I will have to pig out on the prime rib!
fotoguy Posted March 31, 2006 #102 Share Posted March 31, 2006 Blasfamy! Or something like that! How can anyone say anything bad about LOBSTER? It is the food of Gods! The author of the lobster review (which I can't find...maybe I just don't WANT to find it), obviously does not have the sophisticated and highly pampered tastebuds that Yard dog and myself have. No offense to you LinnieNJ. And I love the taste of butter too! How can you not love the taste of butter? Not to worry though, I am sure I will make an effort to eat the prime rib too. okat817 Posted March 31, 2006 #105 Share Posted March 31, 2006 Theres a beach club near Chakanaab national park that I found on the website www.cozumelcruiseexcursions.com that is suposed to have really great shore snorkeling and it won't be crowded. They have guided snorkeling tours every 45 minutes and that is included in the price. I'm debating doing this or renting a car and touring the island on my own. southern_yarddog Posted March 31, 2006 #106 Share Posted March 31, 2006 OKAT, If you like light houses and the Mayan ruins renting a car would be a good idea. The ruins are on the north side of the island and a light house is on the south side. Some nice beachs on the east coast but there is a very strong undertoe on these beachs too. So if you swim there be very careful.
okat817 Posted March 31, 2006 #107 Share Posted March 31, 2006 thanks yarddog I'm going to avoid swimming on the east coast especially since I will have my 11 year old DD with me. I really think that I am leaning towards a lazy day at the beach at one of the beach clubs.
fotoguy Posted March 31, 2006 #108 Share Posted March 31, 2006 Found the lobster "review"...if you can call it a review. Only 2 words, "Lobster mushy," but followed up by, "you could get 2 or 3 no problem." Perhaps the chef was going for the "mushy" consistency. Perhaps a better choice of word would have been, "The lobster melted in my mouth. So tender that vacation experience of not having to do anything transended to the food. It was so tender I didn't even have to chew." I am sure that THAT is what the reviewer was trying to say. She just didn't have the full grasp of the written word as I do. Enough about the lobster. I won't mention it again until the tender, suculent, buttery meat touches my lips. I am probably not telling the whole truth there...but I will try. Hey, what day is today? FRIDAY! Only one week of work left until it is our turn to call the Magica home. If I don't write anymore today, I hope you all have a great weekend. And don't foget to change your clock. We have the good fortune of having daylight savings magically remove one hour of what seems a torturously endless wait for our vacation.
lisascruizin Posted March 31, 2006 Author #109 Share Posted March 31, 2006 Just went on Costa site and our cruise is now unsaleable. I guess that means full house. Anyone else on here first timer? Lisa
CelticGoddess Posted March 31, 2006 #110 Share Posted March 31, 2006 Hi Lisa, This will the first "real" cruise for our family. We have been on several day cruises out of Ft Lauderdale, but I know they are nothing next to the real thing. My 10 year old step son greets me each morning with a countdown, and my five year old keeps asking me to tell him more about Mexico. I' m not sure who is more excited me or them.:D Helena

LinnieNJ Posted March 31, 2006 #112 Share Posted March 31, 2006 Lisa, I'm a first time cruiser, too. My DH had gone on a cruise when he was in his teens (many, many years ago!):) Ours is a family reunion cruise, mostly adults and 2 teens (our nieces). I've been so excited! It seems like the cruise is the only thing I think about anymore. Can't sit and read, can't play computer games, don't want to clean or cook - just want to think about and plan the cruise! Fotoguy - I really loved your description of the lobster! I agree, you did a much better job! Lynn
fotoguy Posted April 1, 2006 #113 Share Posted April 1, 2006 Thanks Lynn, I spoke from the heart...and stomach. To you first timers, I have sailed on four other occasions, and I just want to let you know, the excitement never stops. I, like you Lynn, spend most of my time thinking about the cruise. I have always had wonderful experiences regardless of whether the food was always good, or if my room steward spoke to me, or even if the person behind the bar or casino table didn't smile at me. I always tell myself that it is I who is on vacation, not the crew of the ship. They are working hard literally 7 days a week for 6 or 8 months straight. So if they are not always bright and bubbly, I live with it. How many times have you gone to work grumpy? I have never sailed Costa but I suspect my cruise will be as wonderful as every other ship I have been on. We will find out for ourselves how wonderful the Magica is in a little more than a week! LinnieNJ Posted April 1, 2006 #115 Share Posted April 1, 2006 "D" usually stands for "Dear" but I suppose you could substitute other adjectives!
southern_yarddog Posted April 1, 2006 #116 Share Posted April 1, 2006 Lisascruizin, When you get on the plane just close your eyes and thing about the cruise. Try to have other thoughts on your mind besides thinking your going to puke. . Your going to have a good time and don't let anything change that.:) LinnieNJ, Let's not think of any more D words...HAHAHAha.:D Dear is just right....If Lisacruizin goes to puking she might start using the other D word in DH....HEHEHEHE:eek: Just messin with yall. pauliner Posted April 2, 2006 #118 Share Posted April 2, 2006 lisa, my 1st cruise i thought the same, that i would be sick the whole time, as i get sick in cars, buses, small pleasure boats even canoes. i went to doctors before i went and got some seasick pills then i went and got those little arm bands, then i had a word with a royal navy sailor and yes they do suffer from time to time, he advised me if you start to feel poorly keep your mouth dry no drink and eat dry crackers also go to the highest point on ship and look at horizon so the brain can get acustom to the movement. all this was just incase i was poorly, but i did not need any of the pills and advise i was fine, but like you i still have to have something just in case! this time i have some of those patches to go behind the ear just in case! its a scary thought being sick for a week! i am sure you will be like me just fine and cant wait to book your next cruise. and yes i am the one that has a 9 hour flight just to get to the ship! fotoguy Posted April 3, 2006 #124 Share Posted April 3, 2006 Hey Eric, Hope the weekend flew by. I have so many portrait sessions this week that the days should just fly by. Either that or I will be so stressed out trying to get all of the orders out that the week will just crawl along. The photos on the website you pointed out were really good. They were some of the most informative photos I have seen yet. More often than not, the photos posted are more of people then the ship. Welcome Parrot Heads. I am not 100 percent sure what a Parrot Head is, but I seem to remember it has something to do with Jimmy Buffet. We are all looking forward to a great week. I think I want to look at the weather website you were looking at Eric. The forcast I looked at showed the possibility of rain almost every day. That would suck, but I would still be on vacation.
