LHC Posted January 29, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 29, 2006 DD and I stayed at the Embassy in December prior to Zaandam Christmas Cruise....plan on doing a longer cruise in December 2006 to cover Christmas and NY...I used the valuetrips site and found that for two nights we could get AmeriSuites for 75.00 a night. We have a free airfare due to being bumped on the way to Fla in December but have to use it before Dec 21st this year, so plan on using them on the 20th. What do you guys think about the AmeriSuites..we enjoyed the closeness of the Publix Market, drug store, Tara's steak house etc...are they comparable? TrentS Posted January 30, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 30, 2006 AmeriSuites is a BUDGET hotel, no comparison to Embassy Suites. The rooms at AmeriSuites aren't the type of 2 room suites Embassy Suites has either, they're much smaller and only divided by a small half wall. AmeriSuites is a place I consider fine for a night if you're on a tight budget, but for a couple of nights I personally would much rather spend the difference and stay at Embassy Suites or Renaissance. If you're looking for more of a budget hotel the Extended Stay America or Holiday Inn Express "Convention Center" are nicer than AmeriSuites. Renaissance... http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/FLLBR Embassy Suites... http://www.embassysuites.com/en/es/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=FLLSOES Extended Stay America (nicest budget hotel)... http://www.extendedstayamerica.com/hotels/fort-lauderdale-convention-center-marina.html Holiday Inn Express "Convention Center" (nice budget hotel)... http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/ex/1/en/hd/fllcc I haven't noticed any dates, but at some point AmeriSuites will be converted into a Hyatt Place hotel. I would be a bit reluctant to book there so far out just out of concern that they would decide to close, or the place would be in the middle of a major remodeling project.
