White Pass Railway Tour Questions

A few more questions maybe someone can answer......

The brochure says that the train leaves Skagway at 8:15 am, 12:45 pm, and 4:30 pm. So why does the tour through the cruise ship leave at 8:10 am, but a tour through Chilkoot leave at 7:30 am for the 8:15 am train?

Does everyone board the train at the same place next to the cruise ship regardless of whether booked through the cruise line or through an independent operator?

Since I will only take the train one way (going back by bus), what do I need to do to make sure I get to sit on the left side of the train on the way to Fraser? I understand that if doing a round trip, you switch, but I am going one way.

Each cruise ship has its own boarding area for the train assigned to them (many ships fill 4 complete trains that depart throughout the day). WP&YR doesn't publish ship-train times, as independents board at the station a few blocks away from the docks. Chilkoot's pickup 45 minutes before departure time is about right to get a left-side seat, as seats aren't assigned.
