StaceyM Posted April 19, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 19, 2004 I am on the Elation in June and just found out about a price drop. Called my TA who has been less than speedy about getting back with me. She finally did and confirmed that we would be getting a shipboard credit of about 100.00 per person. Should I be getting a confirmation in writing? Has anyone ever been promised a credit and then upon embarkation, not had it? If so, what did you do? Any insight would be helpful. Carnival will not confirm anything with me since we booked with a TA. Thanks, Stacey
Elo dolly Posted April 19, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 19, 2004 We have been on several cruises, and had on board credits issued. Once we were told about an on board credit, but did not get it..Carnival did nothing for us on the ship, never got it. We were just on the Carnival Triumph April 3-10, two weeks before our cruise I noticed that the prices went down, Called our TA and Carnival would not give an on board credit, but we got $398.00 credited back to our credit card...(waiting for that to show up on our statement, so we will see.)Don't know why they just didn't give us a ship credit. Cruisin' on the Triumph in.... venusjems Posted April 19, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 19, 2004 I booked with Carnival and noticed a price drop, my pvp said she will credit our account. It is supposed to show up on your boarding pass as a credit. I dont know if that helps you any. green eyed lady Posted April 19, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 19, 2004 I am getting $100 per cabin shipboard credit for our July 3rd sailing b/c of the recent 1 day sale they had. Carnival sent me an email confirming this, which I printed out. My TA also faxed me the confirmation that Carnival sent her. It was actually a copy of my itinerary with the price and on the bottom it states $100 shipboard credit. I recommend getting something in writing. CapnJackSparrow Posted April 19, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 19, 2004 How do you find out about a price drop on a cruise? My daughter and son-in-law are going on the Glory on May 22, they have a guaranteed balcony, but no cabin number yet. Where do you find out? green eyed lady Posted April 19, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 19, 2004 check the Carnival website...do a price check for that cruise. Or call Carnival directly and don't tell them you're already booked. See what kind of price they give you. Jen
afdds Posted April 19, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 19, 2004 I'd get it back on your credit card. I'm hoping my credit will be on the card before we leave next month. janetwilson Posted April 20, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 20, 2004 I just went through this on the Carnival Elation. My PVP assured me that we would have a $200 credit on our sign and sale card due to a price drop. We got our sign and sale statement and lo and behold, no price drop. We immediately went to the purser's desk and they contacted our PVP, and he credited our credit card immediately. Cotton Posted April 20, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 20, 2004 A word to the wise: ALWAYS get a confirmation in writing of a shipboard credit or any perk. If you don't have proof, you could be up the proverbial creek w/o a paddle...pun intended. When I've gotten a shipboard credit, my PVP sends me an email confirmation. I immediately print it out and put it w/my cruise docs. I've never had a problem once onboard. My Sign & Sail account shows tips first, then the amount of the shipboard credit. BUT, if wasn't shown, I DO have proof. SO - If you receive a credit, get something in writing. If you don't use a PVP, your TA can get it for you. INSIST on it! You don't want to have any hassles w/the purser's office once you're on your cruise! StaceyM Posted April 20, 2004 Author #10 Share Posted April 20, 2004 This is probably a stupid question, but , what is a PVP? We found out about our price drop from a poster on this board that is on our same cruise. Thank goodness for this board!!

MiffyLynx Posted April 20, 2004 #13 Share Posted April 20, 2004 We sailed on the Paradise last year & recieved a cabin credit of $60 per person. My travel agent emailed me the credit amount, which I printed & took onboard. We had no problems at all. The $60 was there by dinner that night. egallag Posted April 20, 2004 #14 Share Posted April 20, 2004 My experience..... Did some checking around today for prices for our cruise on the Legend 7/2/04. Found a price at Bestcruises about $400 less than I paid through my PVP at Carnival. I called my PVP left her a message explaining the price difference offers of upgrades, etc. She called my back and left me a message within a couple of hours and put a $380 credit back on my card!! Woo hoo. My PVP is awesome I have loved her since day 1, after today I may send her flowers She told me she will keep her eyes open for any other bargains, and you know what, I believe her. StaceyM Posted April 21, 2004 Author #15 Share Posted April 21, 2004 Thanks so much for all of your responses!! I guess my main question is... Should I see my ship board credit on my documents when they come? I should be getting docs in about a month. My TA did e-mail me with the exact amount of my credit but how does Carnival know this? Will they have this info upon my checking in at embarkation?
imatarb Posted April 21, 2004 #16 Share Posted April 21, 2004 I'm not planning on any credit, as my sailing date prices are a bit higher than when we booked! Ah, it would be nice, and I would put that shipboard credit to good use!
