DarCrav Posted September 19, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 19, 2019 Just returned from another journey on the magnificent QM2 (NYC - Quebec City) and once again slept like a baby. I have back issues, but whenever I'm on the QM2 I never have problems with my back, or sleeping through the night. Does anyone know what mattresses are on the QM2? Thought I might like to purchase one for on land sleeping. Thanks for any information!
Lanky Lad Posted September 19, 2019 #2 Share Posted September 19, 2019 They are the Cunarder mattress made by Sealy. I agree they are very comfortable.
BigMac1953 Posted September 20, 2019 #3 Share Posted September 20, 2019 (edited) Bought one a few years ago. There is (was) a link on the Cunard site to "Partners". Delivery for a Super King was about 3 weeks. They are one sided, but extremely comfortable, but not cheap! At some point, we will buy another. cruiseluvva Posted September 21, 2019 #5 Share Posted September 21, 2019 We had been trying to decide about buying one for years, but unlike BigMac the fact they are cheap is what worried us. Decent mattresses are vastly more expensive and while these claim to be exactly the same as on board, the labels tell a different story. So we bought something locally, which while good doesn’t wow as much as I had hoped, though with a pillow topper is now comfortable. I hate shopping for new mattresses and beds! BigMac1953 Posted September 21, 2019 #6 Share Posted September 21, 2019 Gill, £1000+ isn't exactly cheap!
cruiseluvva Posted September 21, 2019 #7 Share Posted September 21, 2019 Perhaps not cheap BigMac, but good mattresses can, and are, several times that. Our current mattresses - zip and link - were way more than that amount - for each of them! And still only ok after buying expensive toppers. We have spent thousands and thousands the past few years trying to find the right things, and at present feel we are the happiest we have been - so far. Rare tacticalbanjo Posted September 23, 2019 #8 Share Posted September 23, 2019 I must say that I too was surprised at the price. My John Lewis own brand mattress cost 30% more. I doubt that Cunard (or any other cruise line) spends a fortune on mattresses though, they get replaced too often to make it worthwhile.
