Do we need a passport?

My girlfriend and I leave on June 8th on the Carnival Destiny. We will stop in San Juan, St. Thomas, and Tortola. Do we need a passport for any of these locations? I know San Juan we definitely won't. From what I've read on Carnival's website all we need is a birth certificate and drivers license. Is this correct?

Yes, that may be correct, but I still think anyone who travels outside the US should still invest in a passport. They are good for 10 years, and it's a foolproof form of ID and citizenship.

It's correct -- you don't need a password or a passport, although in this day and age a passport is advisable.

Currently, all one needs to enter the BVI (Tortola) is birth certificate and photo id. This is not to say that it will not change in the future (can anyone say "Barbados?"). You're good to go for now, but if you plan on future trips, I'd recommend putting "Get a passport" on your to-do list for when you return.

You should not need to pay the rush fee at this point. Most of the time, yo will get your passport within 3-4 weeks. I am about to get one for my daughter and we sail June 20. All you need to do is reaf MASQ paradise adventure post at the beginning of this thread and it will convince you to get passports!

Also if you check out the link I posted - if you live near passport service center and get one in a matter of hours as a walk-in if you can prove dates of travel.
