jjl40 Posted November 10, 2019 #1 Share Posted November 10, 2019 We are in port Colon for a day and would like to just visit the Aguas Clara Locks Visitor Center for a few hours. Is there a safe way to get there without booking a multi-stop excursion? Any insight appreciated.
BillB48 Posted November 12, 2019 #2 Share Posted November 12, 2019 There isn't any problem getting a taxi at the cruise terminal and going to Agua Clara Locks. Just agree on a price beforehand and have your driver wait for you, much easier that way. The last I was aware, admission to Agua Clara was $15pp.
processingnow Posted June 7, 2022 #3 Share Posted June 7, 2022 Want to do same. Has anyone recently taken taxi? Is it easy to get/cost?
BillB48 Posted June 8, 2022 #4 Share Posted June 8, 2022 It's fairly easy to get to from the Colon 2000 pier, about a 20 min ride perhaps. If you are docking in Ft. Amador, the Agua Clara locks is more like 1.5 hours away. Don't have a good feel for the cost, but a starting point would probably be somewhere around $20-25/hr, depending an what you want. I would recommend engaging the cab for the complete trip. While they could drop you off, finding a cab to take you back could be a challenge. cruisinsusin Posted July 19, 2022 #5 Share Posted July 19, 2022 Just visited on land trip. Agree with @BillB48- be sure the driver stays with you- even the locks staff made sure our driver was going to wait as they said it is difficult to get someone to pick you up otherwise. The entry fee for non resident visitors was $10 each. Excellent viewing area by the way..

This post is old I know, but do you recall approx how much you paid for the taxi to and back from the visitor service, including his 'wait' fee.
