djd1023 Posted February 2, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2006 This is my first Carnival cruise and I've got a couple questions. I will be travelling with my wife, teen daughter, and her teen friend. Can I link all 4 S & S cards to one account? Also, can I leave a credit card as deposit on S & S and then pay on last night with cash instead of having all charges go on credit card?

marktac Posted February 2, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 2, 2006 My husband, daughter & I were all on my debit card last year on the Elation. The downside to a debit card is that Carnival will freeze assets in your checking account to cover potential charges. Just make sure you have enough in your account so that you don't bounce checks or automatic payments that may come in. Mark T
jw4jg1mg2eg1 Posted February 2, 2006 #5 Share Posted February 2, 2006 You are right Mark T. It took some planning & alot of "JUST SAY NO!"ing but our bill was only $415. I think they froze $250.:)
dying2cruise Posted February 2, 2006 #6 Share Posted February 2, 2006 Ok I know they post a hold on some funds but its like a couple hundred right? So if you have say $800, you still have plenty of $ to play with, and can use your card in the ports. I know you have to up your daily withdrawl limit though, am I getting this??? marktac Posted February 2, 2006 #7 Share Posted February 2, 2006 Don't forget that they will freeze on a "per person" basis. You might want to talk with Carnival and see what the running total will be before you go. We have one credit card that is reserved for cruises....deposit, payment, tips, S&S. We've found that it works much better that way because we don't keep a lot of money in the checking account when it can draw a whopping 1.5% interest in the savings. :) Mark T
jw4jg1mg2eg1 Posted February 2, 2006 #8 Share Posted February 2, 2006 $800. will show you a good time. You can go to the purser's desk & get a read out of your account however often you need so you can see how you are doing. I think we had about that in the account & then took some spending money for the ports, casino & gameroom. The charges we had on the S&S were our gratuities, stuff we bought in the gift shop onboard, my daughter's Fountain Drink card, playing Bingo...etc.:)
