What hotel to stay at in Long Beach before and

Suburban Drudgery

after our cruise? Not too expensive. TIA

Just returned from a Carnival owned cruise and stayed for two nights on the Queen Mary right next to the dock. It was fabulous. Of course it may also destoy your vision of what a real ship should be like but then again it is worth it to see how it used to be in the glory days of real sailing vs today's sailing with the crowds.

Room rates are about $100 less than LA and if you want a car use Enterprise rent - a - car they have an office right near by and you can drop it at any of their other many LA locations on your way home. Also can pick it up at the airport before the cruise and drive down to Long Beach and leave it there.

We stayed at the Coast Long Beach in December and we paid around $130 with AAA discount. We liked the hotel but we did have a car so it was easy for us to get other places. The Coast is across the bay from downtown Long Beach and within walking distance of the Queen Mary. They do have a restaurant on site but we didn't eat there. There's also another restaurant on the same street but other than that you'd have to go into downtown Long Beach. One thing we liked is that we were able to check in early. We got there around noon and got our room right away.
