Epic boarding time 9pm departure

HI I tried to search for this answer with no luck. I am wondering how early we can board Epic in San Juan? 9pm is the departure time. When I did the online check-in, I had to pick a time and got the 1:30 slot for boarding. I am used to boarding around noon time on other cruise lines but have never been on a cruise that leaves so late. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Departure time generally doesn’t boarding time, unless it is due to a late arrival, which is extremely rare.

 

I have had many evening departures and boarding has always still started at around midday as usual.

The ship will be available for boarding as usual, beginning around 11:30 am to noon, sometimes slightly earlier. The only thing that would change that would be if they were late arriving, or late being cleared for disembarkation by the previous passengers for some reason.

I know people are currently getting texts to not arrive to port for the Epic until after 1pm. No idea if this will keep up for all the cruises, but I know they sent it for the cruise leaving today and thought I've seen on here they did that for previous cruises too.
