Windsailer Posted January 15, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 15, 2020 I have been to Las Caletas twice. Once on HAL and once on NCL.. The island is very nice. However, the HAL excursion was not private, it included people from hotels. And it seemed like the food was better on our NCL excursion.
rajkr74 Posted January 15, 2020 #3 Share Posted January 15, 2020 We have done Las Caletas a number of times but only from our stays in our condo while in Puerto Vallarta. This tour is contracted thru Vallarta Adventures. We have done quite a number of tours thru this company and we have always had a great time. The tours were excellent and the staff top notch. We just did the "Rhythms of The Night" show in Dec. thru Vallarta Adventures and really enjoyed it also. The service was just as good as our previous visits to Las Caletas. Not sure if this show is offered on your cruise. Here is a link to the tour off the Vallarta Adventures website. https://www.vallarta-adventures.com/en/tour/caletas-beach-hideaway Las Caletas is only accessed via boat and it is on the coast south of Puerto Vallarta rather than an island. The site has beach chairs, many activities, a good lunch, complementary drinks and it does mix cruise passengers with others but you won't feel crowded. It takes about a 45 min boat ride to the site and you board the catamaran right there in the cruise ship harbor. You have both sunny areas and shaded, very relaxing. These photos are a few years old but can give you get an idea of the location.
Loreto Posted January 15, 2020 #4 Share Posted January 15, 2020 We have done this excursion twice and enjoyed it. We have also done the rhythms of the night excursion. Las Caletas is in a beautiful setting as is evidenced by the posted photos. The beach staff were very attentive and watchful to ensure your safety. There are numerous activities offered. The buffet was sumptuous and well organized. Before you get on the catamaran to sail to the resort the guide asks the number in your party to arrange seating at lunch. The ride out and back were fun as well. It is not exclusive to Holland America, and we met lots of interesting people. We would do it again if in Puerto Vallarta! garydm Posted January 15, 2020 #5 Share Posted January 15, 2020 The time at the beach and the lunch was fine. Ou return trip however included very loud continuous “music” which was quite obnoxious. Gary
Rare foodsvcmgr Posted January 15, 2020 #6 Share Posted January 15, 2020 Have done this excursion and would recommend it. The sightseeing on the boat ride is quite interesting as well, look for the rocky island inhabited by Blue Footed Boobies, otherwise if you are a birdwatcher you’ll need to go to the Galapagos to see them.
