DaMom Posted January 23, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2020 None of the excursions listed for this port are really grabbing us - it it possible to simply walk into town from the cruise ship dock, walk around town and have a nice lunch (preferably with an ocean view)? drake2014 Posted February 19, 2020 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2020 I gotta admit this question made me laugh. Yes, of course you can. Frederiksted is wonderful and vibrant, come check it out.
DaMom Posted February 19, 2020 Author #3 Share Posted February 19, 2020 Thanks for the response and the map, but not sure why it's an "of course" when so many port towns are not that easily walkable from the dock.... and while I'm not disabled per se, I have a tricky back which makes extensive walking challenging. LuvToSnorkel59 Posted February 26, 2020 #4 Share Posted February 26, 2020 Yes, the town of Frederiksted is right off the pier. There is an awesome place to eat called Pollys. There are a couple tables out front to eat, and the view is spectacular. There are also places to eat inside, and out back. There also is a place called turtles a little ways down. It might be a little of a walk, but the view is amazing and the food is awesome. Deli sandwiches, but 1 is enough for 2. On cruise ship days, there are local vendors that have awesome wares. We were just there for 11 days, and unfortunately there was not a cruise ship, and so no vendors, but we have been there when there was. There are a few shops, but not a lot, although the ones there are awesome. If you take a left off the pier, there is rhythms at rainbow beach. You can rent chairs and umbrellas, and have lunch. Again, amazing food and the view. You may want to take a taxi there though, as it’s a ways there. Hope this helps.😊
Rare moposh Posted September 7, 2023 #5 Share Posted September 7, 2023 I saw some excursions for snorkeling and they say they walk to the beach so I figured I would save money and just walk there myself. Is the beach pretty easy to get to? Thanks.
Boowaaccaa77 Posted December 10, 2023 #6 Share Posted December 10, 2023 Would a walking tour be helpful? Self guided?
baldilocks Posted December 31, 2023 #7 Share Posted December 31, 2023 Very nice place....except... beware that the ship excursion for the local beach says it is a 350 yard walk from the ship. It is more like 1350 yard walk. Nice beach with some rocks.
