My boyfriend (32) and I (26) will be on board. We are really looking forward to it! We are both really fun and would love to meet a bunch of people our age to party with. I've been reading other's reviews and I am debating on whether to bring our own alcohol or not.

Wow I am surprised that there are not many people on our roll call  We are getting really excited.. Is anyone bringing their own togas?

Katiegal: we plan on bringing our own, but havent decided if we will at Ft. Lauderdale or at ports... reviews appear to seem like they do not make a big deal about it, but I don't want to be one of those people who they make and example of...lol... maybe we will watch others first...

Does anyone know what the weather is like on a cruise around this time? I have looked at the webcam on Costa a couple times and it doesnt look to great, but I am imagining its nice and hot? Never been on a cruise before so not sure exactly what to expect.

Well lets keep this thread going and get excited together!!! LESS THAN 3 WKS :D

I'm here! I'm here! Had to re-book from Mediterranea to Magica (Work reasons). I am pretty excited. :p Mainly because I get to go to St. John's via ferry from St. Thomas!!!

I really wanted to go to Tortola - I guess that's another cruise:(

Anyhoo! I can't wait!! VACATION HERE I COME!!!

St. John just happens to be one of the most beautiful places in the world!:D

I have never been there, but I do know that Kenny Chesney lives there:D . If you google St. John's Virgin Islands and look at the images, you will see how beautiful it is.

At Trunk Bay, they have an underwater snorkel trail. I heard was pretty cool. I'm sure snorkeling is great all over the island.

You would have to take a ferry from St. Thomas to St. John's. That is what we are doing. There is a lot of information on this St. Thomas board about the ferry if you do a search.

Hope this helps!

kchesneylover: What is there to do in St. Johns? Never really heard of it? Are there specific excursions there....???

Any other recommendations for excursions??

16 days to go!!

hi, this is curt and i started this march 5 magica roll call.we are from michigan and would love to meet everyone at the bar nearest to the casino at 7:30 pm sunday.i am traveling with my wife and 3 kids , son 25,son 23,daughter21 and neice22 from florida.i will put a cruise critic sign on the bar. stop by and say hi. we have cruised a few times before and it is always nice to know a few familar faces when walking around the ship, have a problem at a port or excursion or need to share a cab, etc. it is also great for the kids to meet a few people. it always more fun to start the night with a group of friends rather then being by yourself. i hope everyone stops by.see ya soon. curt

99% of everything i read says to go on the ships excursion to an outdoor show put on by some crew members and locals. suppose to very entertaining for all ages and the star gazing is wonderful.they have stadium seating so they can seat alot of people. i also read to keep walking down the side isles toward the front to get a good seat. i think they also have fireworks at the end. i believe it is a 45 min. bus ride each way. i did read that it did not make sense to go into the town as most stores are closed and people said they were uncomfortable walking back at night. i also read that the dock they tie up to and the surrounding area makes everyone a little nervous.we are planning to go on this. curt

i forgot to mention that this island is where we spend the entire day at. it is a small island just off the dom. republic. i think costa may own it or have special privliges. it a beautifull beach, very safe and the cruise ship has a big bar-b-que area there to feed everyone.not much else to do but enjoy the sand, sun and water. the boat leaves at around 5 or 6 and takes only an hour or less to reach the dom. republic.

My husband, our two daughters (10 and 5) and I will be cruising March 5th on the Magica too! We're Canadians looking forward to getting away from the cold...celebrating our 13th anniversary...and of course celebrating our amazing medal haul at the Olympics!! Woohooo!:)

I would appreciate any feedback on the rooms located on the 11th deck (Tiepolo I believe?). Thanks!

P.S. Have taken note of the Sunday evening meet. Thanks Detroit for setting it up.

We'll be on the Magica on March 5th (husband, myself and 2 sons, ages 8 & 5)!

Decorator Gal: My husband is also from Canada & is very pleased with the medal total! We were on the Carnival Glory a couple of years ago. It is virtually the same ship as the Magica. We had a BEAUTIFUL room on the 11th deck. It was an outside category, but had floor-to-ceiling windows on the entire outside wall, plus it was the size of a balcony stateroom with the balcony square-footage as part of the room. (Does that make sense?)

We were interested in booking one of these rooms on the Magica, but could not get confirmation that these rooms were the same configurations (with the floor-to-ceiling windows) as on the Glory. We ended up taking a balcony stateroom on deck 6 instead.

After your trip, I hope you'll let me know what the cabin was like. (We'll probably sneak up to that deck while they're cleaning the rooms, just to satisfy our curiosity.) In any case, I'm sure you'll enjoy your cruise. We look forward to meeting everyone on Sunday at the bar nearest the casino!

NickAndysMom: Thanks for your feedback. I hope the cabins on the 11th deck are the same as the ones on the Carnival Glory. I can only imagine floor to ceiling windows! Bliss! I wanted an extended verandah stateroom but in light of the Irish teenager falling over incident, I panicked.

Will certainly tell you all about the room. Hopefully in person!

Yay!! Glad that ex-pats still cheer on Canada!:)

Is everybody packed and ready to go :D ???

I have to "go to a dentist appointment" Friday morning. In reality I have to do last minute cruise shopping.

- underwater cameras

- disposable cameras

- Memory cards for digital camera

- and I have to get extra cash out of the ATM as I heard the Magica doesnt have an ATM.

I am so nervous cause its right around the corner!!! Where is everybody driving from? I am coming from Miami.

See you on board!!!

Count us in! My DW and I are jacked about our first cruise. Counting the hours 'til Sunday. Booked this cruise and ended up with a new wardrobe. Got a great price on our cruise and an awesome airfare rate, but I'm afraid we've plowed the "savings" into new cruise duds. Now I'm eyeing that spiffy $379 deluxe garment bag. Maybe next time.
