Will Carnival waive photo copyright?

We have relatives who want reprints of our formal night photos taken by the Conquest's photographers. Local shops say the only way they can do it is to have the copyright waived. Does anyone know if Carnival will do this?

I would check with another photo place. My SIL just took our 8x10 from a previous cruise and had a few copies made. She had no problem.

I recently had copies made at Walgreens. At first they questioned what were obviously professional pictures, but because they were not stamped 'Copyrighted' and I insisted, the manager agreed that I could have them. Honestly, I bought nearly every picture they took, but after the cruise I needed additional copies. By the way, I was very impressed with these 'drug store' copies! They were great.

If you don't have a scanner on your printer, why not have someone that has one scan and send it to you so you can print your own, or take pics to a small print shop and they usually don't question.

That's sort of what I did. I scanned the picture in to my computer, cropped the bar code off at the bottom, copied it to a CD, and went to Walgreen's. I always thought that you could make 1 copy as long as you didn't sell it under the copyright law, but what do I know?

I take my pics to Wal-Mart, Walgreen's, etc. to print because it's cheaper per photo than printing them at home. (Or that's at least what some article I read stated).

All you have to do is call Carnival and they will send you a letter waiving the copyright.

On our first cruise the best photo taken was the last night of the cruise. I was able to buy it the next morning but it was too late for copies. We called the 800# and Carnival sent us a release for copying the photo.

Another thing Walmarts has a machine where you do the copying yourself. It is posted about copywright laws but there is no one standing over you to see what you do.

I've used the machines at K-Mart. I just tell it color photo and not professional photo. No problems.

Lately, I just get a friend who has a scanner and color/photo printer to do it for me.
