EU proposes ban on non-essential incoming foreign travel for 30 days

Hopefully, Celebrity will still be able to resume operating in Europe sometime this summer.  At this point, I don't see any point in cruise ships avoiding Europe because the virus has spread all over the world, including the US.  There is really no place left for cruise ships to avoid this pandemic.  All they can do at this point is maintain strict cleaning measures and screen passengers as they board.  I don't feel any safer in the US than I would in Europe.  If cruise ships want to avoid this virus, they would have to move to another planet.

The point of the travel ban is to help contain the spread, not a oh well, everywhere is bad, may as well start up operations.  Also it now seems 14 days may not be long enough to quarantine oneself.   In a few weeks time when the numbers have increased significantly I don’t think people’s ability to enjoy a cruise will be on their mind.  Leisure travel will become a burden for those countries that accept visitors.
