cntrydncr1 Posted May 26, 2006 #26 Share Posted May 26, 2006 On my very first cruise 3 friends and I had booked an inside quad. We were upgraded to 2 double outside cabins. I think they needed the quad to accomodate a family. Worked for us! Since then....nothing.:(
Casshew Posted May 26, 2006 #27 Share Posted May 26, 2006 I booked an AE mini suite Guarantee and was given an AA mini suite assignment, 4 levels within the same category is good in my book. :)
MichTraveler Posted May 26, 2006 #28 Share Posted May 26, 2006 Our March.2006 Tahitian Princess cruise started as the cheapest inside (II I think). A few months after booking they upgraded us to an outside due to a Princess sale. Then at the port we ended up with a balcony. So from II to BC. Quite a nice surprise for our 25th anniversary and first with status (6th on Princess). We would have been happy with the inside we paid for as the Tahitian Pricess is a wonderful ship and Tahiti was paradise.
Maraprince Posted May 27, 2006 #29 Share Posted May 27, 2006 DON'T BOOK A GUARANTEE! We booked a specific cabin and category on the Crown Princess. To our surprise and also our TA's, Princess "sold" our original outside cabin and "upgraded" us to a cabin on the Rivera deck located right near one of the swimming pools and the restrooms! This was a cabin that we had originally turned down because of its location. They could not move us back to our original cabin and the other 2 cabins they offered us were located right under the Cigar Lounge. After much trouble, we finally had to pay a higher rate to get a balcony cabin and put a "hold" on our reservation so someone else at Princess didn't decide to upgrade us once again! It seems if you don't ask or want an upgrade, you get it! The best way is to book a guarantee. You will at least get the category you booked and maybe better. What was wrong with being under the cigar lounge? smoke rises, I don't think it would have bothered you being below.
