Mtn2Sea Posted September 1, 2020 #51 Share Posted September 1, 2020 We were fortunate to have two cruises aboard the Amsterdam. The first was for two weeks in 2017 to Alaska. Earlier that year we spent 22 days aboard another HAL ship, which gave us an opportunity to “compare” our experiences on two almost identical ships. I had read many posters’ comments about the Amsterdam’s outstanding crew and, after these two cruises a few months apart, I was able to understand the Amsterdam’s favorable comparison. Our second cruise aboard the Amsterdam was the 2019 world cruise. Needless to say, that was a most memorable experience due to the ship, crew and itinerary. Unfortunately, our third planned cruise aboard the Amsterdam is not to be, since the ship has been sold.

USN59-79 Posted September 4, 2020 #54 Share Posted September 4, 2020 We had 8 cruises totaling 319 days on her from 2002 to 2017. I think I remember that Astrolabe actually working on only two of the cruises. And when it did work, I never understood what it was supposed to do other than the bells ringing from time to time. Other than a beautiful piece of art, what was it?
