Mexico Riviera good for families?

DH and I live in So. Cal. so we'd pay no airfare, but it's still a pricey cruise.

 

Anyhow, we've done the upper part of the Mexican Riviera on our honeymoon, and are now considering the lower part (Acapulco, etc..) so that we wouldn't have to fly anywhere with our 2 yr old. However, I only see Carnivaland maybe one other ship that goes down there and I wondered how kid friendly those ships are. We've only been on Carnival for our crusies, but this is the Spirit, and we also never looked for kid friendliness in thepast since we had none. lol!
