Not the Holdiay Review You Expected - 4/19/04

WE LOVED IT. We thought it was a beautiful ship, very clean, and great service. We didn't even think the ship was small. This was our first cruise and the Holiday was just what we expected. We were upgraded from a 4a to 6D (Empress Deck - Ocean View). We have a good cabin stewardess, and good service in the Four Winds Dining room. We rocked and rolled a little, but not enough to be bothered by it. It seems there was a "slight" smell in the Purser's Desk area, but again, not enough to be considered bothersome. Paul the cruise director was great, and the social host Terrance was a lot of fun too. I do regret not making it to meet the other cruise critic members. One bit of advice, if you decide to snorkel at Chankanaab, ask for Mario. He will guide you to some great sunken ruins and statues, as well as caves, octopus, and lobsters. We works for tips, and believe me, you'll love the things he shows you. Any questions???

I must say we were a bit apprehensive. I had read some very bad things about the Holiday and I want to reassure anyone who will be traveling soon that she seems to be in top shape to me. Oh, and I forgot to mention that I thought the cabins and showers were very nice and roomy. Not at all what I expected. I thought there would not be room to turn around. And please ignore the typo on my original post, it should read "HE" works for tips.

Cajun Queen -- in Playa Del Carmen, we took a taxi to Palmuul (sp?) Beach (10.00 each way for 4 people). It's where the Carnival Calica Reef Snorkeling Trip goes. Anyway, we went there for 10.00, and paid 5.00 to rent snorkel equipment. We stayed all day, while the people on the Carnival excursion only stayed 1-1/2 to 2 hours. I think they paid 49.00 each. It's nice with lounge chairs, restaurant, showers, etc. However, they had a fire two months ago and there is some construction going on there. After we had enough beach time, we went into town for some shopping.

My oldest daughter and I will be one the May 8th sailing. This is my third trip on this ship and I always have a great time. I am a bit prejudice though because my youngest daughter is a dancer on the Holiday.

How cool is that??? What fun to be able to watch your DD perform for you!

Tell me, don't the dancers also perform other duties on the ship? One of the dancers from my last Holiday cruise was also working at the art auction. Otherwise, what DO they do all day when not on stage?
