NEED LUGGAGE HELP INFO ON HOW TO MOVE FROM THE SHIP TO OUR HOTEL IN VENICE.

I KNOW HOW TO GET FROM OUR HOTEL TO THE AIRPORT VIA A WATER TAXI. HOWEVER, I HAVE NO IDEA ON HOW WE WILL GET FROM THE MILLIE TO OUR HOTEL, “THE VIOLINO D’ORO” IN VENICE. WE ARE TOO OLD TO MOVE OUR OWN LUGGAGE TO THE HOTEL. ANY ADVISE YOU CAN GIVE US WILL BE MOST APPRECIATED.

Happy Cruising,

There are several recent treads on the "Ports of Call - Europe" board on this topic (I had the same concerns). Check that board out. If anyone has any better suggestions, I'd love to hear them too!

From your hotels website here is the info .. just take the water taxi directly to the hotel or the water bus ( but the water taxi would be easier with luggage)..and take a print out of the hotels name etc. will be easier for you.
You might email the hotel and ask if there is a landing ( water taxi ) at their front entrance ( it looks like it in their pictures)..

We stayed at the THE VIOLINO D’ORO in May before our Millennium cruise. I hope I am wrong, but it is unlikely that a water taxi will be able to drop you right at the hotel. Our experience was there was too much gondola traffic for a water taxi to get right next to the hotel, because the landing you are seeing in the picture is where you can hire a gondola.

We took a water taxi from the airport to the hotel. Our water taxi driver dropped us off about 2 blocks from the hotel. Even though my husband and I were quite capable of handling our luggage, our driver took my large bag and showed us the way to the hotel.

When we left the hotel to go to the ship, the hotel called for a water taxi, which we shared with some other ladies we had met here on Cruise Critic, who stayed at the same hotel. We had to walk all the way to the Grand Canal with our luggage, because that was as close as the water taxi could get to the hotel. The canals get very congested. It wasn't a problem for my husband and I. Luckily, a porter from the hotel helped the other ladies with their luggage.

My suggestion would be that if you can't handle your own luggage, and the water taxi can't get close to the hotel, perhaps the driver, or one of you can walk to the hotel first and ask them to send someone for the luggage.

Good Luck!
