Ecological Tours in Belize City

We just got back from a cruise on the Grand Princess that visited Belize City. I had set up a package with Marvin Deras of Ecological Tours and it was really a first class experience. We were met at the pier and escorted to the Ecological Tours "office". After settling the bill, we were driven to the local airport and cought a Maya Island Air flight to San Pedro on Ambergris Caye (15 mintues, spectacular views!). We were met at the airport and escorted to the dive shop. A quick stop there, then off to the dive boat. There were 10 snorkelers on the trip with one diving guide. We snorkeled at Hol Chan Marine Reserve and it was awesome! The water was comfortable and we saw nurse sharks, rays, moray eels (2), a huge variety of fish, lobster, and crabs! Then back in the boat and off to the Shark Ray Alley. Again, nice snorkeling, though not as spectacular as at Hol Chan. Then back to San Pedro. We had 90 minutes to kill, so we wandered around the town and had lunch at Elvi's Cafe. Good food. Then back to the airport and back to Belize City. Again, we were met at the airport by a taxi that brought us back to the pier.

Could I have set all this up on my own? Yes, probably.

Was it worth it to have Marvin Deras do it for me? Most definitely!

If I can get back to Belize again I'd definitely work with Marvin!
