Taxi from port to Rome

Has anyone taken a taxi from the port to Rome? We have friends who are planning a one day post cruise stay in Rome and need transportation. The train would be too difficult with luggage. They're interested in the availability of a taxi at the pier and the approximate cost.

It is about 1 1/2 hour trip from where the ship docks to Rome. We bought a Princess bus trip to the city and did our own tour there....but even that cost us about $70 each just for the ride. It is a long drive...can't even imagine how much a taxi would be....:confused: Good luck with this....

Look on the Port of Call board and you will find much discussion in the Europe section on transfers to Rome.

Check out "rome airport shullte" on google. We have used this service several times and they are great. Nice big vans that hold all the luggage as well (there were 5 of us)
