Why so many public areas and bars and so few people using them?

The Legend public areas and bars where empty most of the time. Is this normal? If so, why do they have so many bar areas? Going on Victory soon, hope this ship will be different.

I know what you mean, was on the Legend in Feb, and excepting the disco, all of the other bar areas were deserted the whole cruise. I tdepends on when you cruise and the price and length of the cruise. Get on a ship that younger people can afford, or during sprin break/holidays...then there is lots of action taking place.

Can't imagine Carnival building all these bars etc. into their ships floor plans, if people are only going to use them once a year at spring break. I'd rather see one bar or disco packed with people than seven areas with a hand full. Build a movie theater or ice rink like RC instead. Hey, I'm not a party pooper, I like to party! But walking into a bar area at 11pm and not seeing anyone around kind of ruins the mood.

Exactly! I'd rather see 2-3 great public areas than 6-7 that are barely half full. I know that I spend most of my time either out on the pool deck, so I'm definitely someone who doesn't utilize all the different areas. Perhaps that will change next week!

I think this is hit and miss on a lot of cruises. Sometimes it depends on the band or entertainment in that lounge. You will have about 650 more passangers on the Victory so that could make things seem more crowded as well. We have been on curises where you can't get a seat in a bar or the casino, then some feel like you there on your own.

It's nice to be able to sit and have a drink and not have to yell over the crowds

I agree that there are probably too many lounges/bars that are not utilized.

However, I think in a way it's good, because some folks ENJOY having a quiet area to have a drink with no loud crowds. (That would be me!)

From my observation, the lounges with the live music are usually TOO crowded.

I think it's kinda nice that we have the option...
