CementShoes Posted May 3, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 3, 2004 Just wondering, I'm sure this must have happened to Someone Else.
SUSANITA Posted May 3, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 3, 2004 I think you can call and just do a "name change" for $30 per person. There is a small change fee. Suep366394@aol.com NEXT UP~SENSATION 5/6/04! Cotton Posted May 3, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 3, 2004 I think it may depend on at what phase the change takes place. Also - with whom you are booked. Carnival doesn't charge, but some of the online agencies and regular TAs do, from what I've read on this board....? I know I just talked w/my Carnival PVP a coupla weeks ago about my son's upcoming Holiday cruise. He was wanting to book, but had not decided "which girlfriend" to take! She said the actual NAME and info of the passenger isn't needed until final payment is made. So, as of now, he's booked as "______and guest". Also, she told me there is NO fee involved in changing passenger names. HeidiHo Posted May 3, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 3, 2004 I think the name change fees come in if the name is changed after final payment but I could be wrong. I have never encountered thia situation. Lil'Bird Posted May 3, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 3, 2004 There is a charge if you make the change after final payment. You also cannot change it too close to the actual sailing for security reasons. I'm sure someone can elaborate, but I think it is at least a week prior to sailing. A Lil'Bird told me... kristikae Posted May 3, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 3, 2004 The way I understand it, Carnival will not charge the name change fee unless the documents have been printed. Guest Posted May 3, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 3, 2004 I changed a name a week and a half before our cruise in Dec. There was a $35 fee.
DRbutterfly Posted May 3, 2004 #9 Share Posted May 3, 2004 I had this happen to me. The night before the cruise 2ppl in our group couldn't go and I had the names changed. There was a fee but the TA had no problem. Mind you I called her at 12 mid-night about 6-8 hrs before cruising time. I love my TA! You shouldn't have a problem changing the names. aqusis Posted May 3, 2004 #11 Share Posted May 3, 2004 Doesn't one of the original passengers have to remain in the cabin? I don't think you can change every person booked in the cabin. I think 1 original person has to stay. Mariner of the Seas
jmurph Posted May 3, 2004 #12 Share Posted May 3, 2004 My 17 year old son decided to stay with his dad the week we were cruising in Nov, so I let my daughter take a friend. Since son was going to stay in the boys cabin and my daughter with me, I had to not only change a name, but switch cabins around. We did this after final payment but within a month of the cruise. Just had to pay $35.00 plus supply them with the name and birthday of the new passenger. momofmeg Posted May 4, 2004 #14 Share Posted May 4, 2004 My sister was booked with us for sovereign in 2001. then like last minute her supervisor was not going to let her off. We checked with TA and he said there would be a fee of $35 for a name change to take someone else. Anyway she went over her boss's head to her boss and was let off and she went with us after all. It was really unfair how she was treated-her boss decided they would have the extra " Christmas business" going then and would need her. (She worked at Olan Mills) I think personally she was just jealous because she was going on a cruise. My sister's boss only told my sister this after my sister had got the time off and after my sister told her boss that she was going on a cruise with my family.
