bob marley Posted February 14, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 14, 2006 Hi: we are on the Hong Kong-Bangkok cruise, and are getting worried. We want to go ashore in Hanoi and Danang, but do not wish to take a tour. We have friends there. SS says they will provide visas. Are the visas only good on the ship's tours, or are they good generally. We are specific about Veit Nam, as we already have our other visas. Any help will be appreciated. blackbird71 Posted February 14, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 14, 2006 Normally only good for ship tours. I would get my own just to be safe.
koss Posted February 14, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 14, 2006 From what I know, the ships visa is only good for leaving the ship with a group. So you better get you own Vietnam-Visa. Just make sure you get a multiple entry Visa. Vietnamese are quite funny about this. Since the ship goes back into international waters after leaving Ha Long and before anchoring in Da Nang, they consider it 2 seperate entries into the country. And do not forget to bring lots of money. They charged us € 95,- (~ USD 115) per mutltiple entry visa at the embassy last week.
bbybear Posted February 14, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 14, 2006 Thanks for the heads up! We are also on this cruise, I had assumed that -they are taking care of the visa- meant just that. I will go this week to the V. Embassy to get us sorted out! Thanks again!
