A few questions - First time cruiser

I am cruising on the Carnival Pride for the first time on May 28th. I will be cruising with just myself and two daughters (16 & 20). I do have a few question I would really appreciate an answer for.

 

1. Do you need visas for the Mexican riviera (we have passports)
   
2. If I wear a tux during the formal nights, will I feel out of place.
   
3. We paid for a suite, Cat 11 for $3500.00, is that a fair price?
   
4. I paid the gratuities up front, correct thing to do?
   
5. Is the Pride a family cruise, I will be really bored when my daughters get tired of me?
   
6. Any other tips would be great.

I've been on the Pride - a beautiful ship. You'll love it!

 

I have no clue about the visa requirements or the price for a suite so I'll leave those alone.

 

You'll be fine in a tux on formal night. Lots of folks do, and keep them on all evening.

 

Pre-paying is fine. You can always tip extra if deserved. But, you cannot reduce like you can with them going on the sail & sign.

 

You will not be bored! Lots to do. Casino, shows, people watching, etc etc. Since you are going with your daughters, you might want to avoid the funnel deck!!!!!

No worries.. Cruising is Great and you will have the best time. My first cruise was on the Spirit and I was blown away. I think the Pride and Spirt are sister ships so you will love it..

 

I will try to answer these very quickly for you:

 

1. no visa's necessary

2. Wear a tux.. You will feel very comfortable (its those who wear jeans that are out of place)

3. Very fair price it seems. I have never had a Cat. 11 but that sounds on par.

4. you can pay gratuities either way. One tip I learned is I give my cabin steward and drink waiter a $20 bill at the BEGINNING of the cruise. And although they are usually awesome any way, trust me you won't be waiting for anything.

5. All Carnival ships are geared for family fun. It really depends on the time of year.

2. If I wear a tux during the formal nights, will I feel out of place. You won't be the only one in a tux, but you won't be in the majority.
   
3. We paid for a suite, Cat 11 for $3500.00, is that a fair price? Depends on how long the cruise is and how many in the room.
   
4. I paid the gratuities up front, correct thing to do? For a first timer probably, use this cruise for setting the baseline for service expectations, then if you cruise again you can tip based on that.
   
5. Is the Pride a family cruise, I will be really bored when my daughters get tired of me? All carnival cruises are family cruises, what activities are available for your DDs depends on their age.
   
6. Any other tips would be great. Forget you ever saw an episode of Love Boat and go determined to have a good time.
