If you want some excellent ice cream, Aspen Ice Cream is in the large yellow strip mall across the street from Tara and Carlos and Pepe's... http://www.aspenicecream.com/ There are 3 large strip malls around Holiday Inn Express - More or less across the street, next door, and behind, as well as several smaller ones. There are at least a dozen other small restaurants scattered throughout those strip malls, plus a number of fast food and carry-out places in the area as well... You'll never go hungry along that section of SE 17th Street, there's something for every taste and budget. Colleen L Posted March 5, 2006 #7 Share Posted March 5, 2006 Hi, A bunch of us will be overnighting in FLL prior to our sailing on Apr 2 - Star Princess. We arrive the nite before about 8:30pm and will be staying at the Westin Hotel, about 10 min from the airport. Can anyone give suggestions for a good restaurant that's not terribly expensive, within a short distance of the hotel? Also, we plan to make a quick trip (if that's even possible!!! ) to the Sawgrass Mills early on the day of sailing. I've heard that it's about a 30-35 min drive. What would be the best way to get there? A taxi, or would that be pretty expensive? Thanks for the great help in the other threads here! Mr Miserable Posted March 6, 2006 #8 Share Posted March 6, 2006 Which Westin exactly? There are about 3 which could qualify. I always pop in to the Cheesecake Factory - good quality, good service and one of these days I'll have room for a cheesecake at the end of the meal!
