I know for a fact, that if there are cabins available you can upgrade at Pier on RCCL. Does anyone know if Celebrity has the same policy. Also is there a price list for those upgrades, ala RCCL. Many Thanks

If there are any cabins available you can request an upgrade when you board. Head straight to the Guest Service desk - they will give you the price. Usually there are very few cabins available because Celebrity will run some special offers shortly before sailing if there are still a number of cabins left.

All of our recent sailings have been full.

If you're sailing our of Baltimore, go to the Pier Co-ordinator's desk after you check in. She'll have a list of cabins available, and what then price is to upgrade. She handles all upgrades. If you wait until you get on the ship in Baltimore, it's already too late!

Take Care,
Jaime

Keep in mind that the vast majority of cruise ships sailing from North America are sailing at capacity. People feel safer traveling now and the economy has improved greatly. If you want to upgrade keep close touch with your travel agent who could get a fax offering a bargain upgrade. Last year I was able to upgrade from an inside to balcony for $165 thanks to our TA, on Celebrity.

We were on the Millie last march and my BIL and his family (2 adults and 2 almost teens) were booked in the same outside cabin. The cabin was way to small for the 4 of them, so they upgraded to a Celebrity Suite for an additional $1200. The also could have done a Sky suite, but they opted for the bigger cabin. They had to do this, and know in the future this is an option or booking an inside cabin across the hall for the kids. None the less, if the cabins are available, you can upgrade, but it is pricey! Have a great time!

According to Celebrity's literature, the price of an upgrade at the pier is determined by subtracting the brochure price of the room you have from the brochure price of the room you desire. Our experience was slightly different. We expected to pay $250 pp., but were charged $150 pp. to move from an outside to a verandah.
HOWEVER, getting that upgrade required a bit of persistence. They may automatically tell you the ship is full before finally admitting that the cabin you want is available.
Also, we first enquired about upgrades on board, but were told the service desk on the dock was who handled that.
We also learned that upgrades are available on the second day after sailing for those cabins vacant due to no-shows
