When we went in to Marseille on Nautica we were right in the city at Vieux Port which is Marseille's old port located at the end of La Canebiere (historic street in the city's old quarter). It was super convenient and lovely. You just stepped off the boat and there you were! We were very surprised at how taken we were with Marseille when we really had no desire to even go. 

 

In November 2019, we were supposed to embark in Monte Carlo but they switched it to Marseille at the last minute because of weather condition. They provided transport for all passenger who needed it. We had a rental car and were driving from Avignon so we did not use the transportation offered. This time we were on Marina and it was docked at Marseille-Fos Port which is outside of the city and industrial. I think it is France's largest port. We did not even attempt to get into the city from there. 

 

I think the different ports were because of the different size of the ships.
