KeepSailing Posted September 5, 2021 #1 Share Posted September 5, 2021 Now that several EU countries are requiring testing (either PCR or antigen depending on country) even for vaxed if one does not fall under their revised "safe country" list, can anyone on recent cruise advise how MSC is handling in order to allow excursions? Are they testing anyone who needs one within the 48hr or 72hr time frames and is there an additional cost? (not talking about end of cruise testing to allow psg to return home).
Rare Huntingdon1701 Posted September 5, 2021 #2 Share Posted September 5, 2021 The 'extra info' on the shore excursions for my 5 Oct cruise ends by saying 'Passengers can get a free Covid-test at the shore excursions desk'. It's green pass related for Italy. I seem to recall a press release saying onboard disembarkation testing was also a requirement of Barcelona opening back up. Don't know how it's working in practice.

We just returned Monday from our MSC cruise to the Mediterranean/Adriatic. Regarding excursions, you were only allowed on MSC excursions for Italian ports, but were free to tour on your own at others (for us that was Croatia and Greece). Italy requires its Green Pass (or equivalent) for some, but not all, excursions. We are both vaccinated and were never required by MSC to show negative Covid proof for excursions. We did have to exhibit our CDC vaccine cards for one excursion but that was due to the requirement of the site we visited (the Frasassi caves). Onboard Covid testing was, as far as I am aware, only required for departing unvaccinated guests. Hope that helps you.
