Davechipp74 Posted October 6, 2021 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2021 (edited) Flying fish, hear me out. You see if I see a flying fish it usually means I'm sitting on my aft balcony with a proper drink wearing nothing but a bathing suit and a smile aboard my favorite ship (NCL Gem) I'm thinking of booking myself a solo cruise for my birthday in January. brngckn Posted October 6, 2021 #2 Share Posted October 6, 2021 Love it! I am known to bundle up on my balcony with bins and a glass of wine - I call it burr-ding! Seriously, I've seen a lot of great birds that way. Never a flying fish, though.

I'm guessing that is because you stopped after that first glass of wine..... 🤣 1

Been to Bermuda 8 or 9 times now. Have seen the flying fish every time, always when we are leaving, never on arrival. It's like they're giving us an escort to make sure we leave the island safely!! And speaking of fish, on our last cruise in October of 19, we had a pod of dolphins ( 10-15) swimming alongside the boat for about an hour. That was incredible!
MagnoliaBlossom Posted October 6, 2021 #5 Share Posted October 6, 2021 We have always loved watching for the flying fish. When sailing fromNO or Galveston we usually start seeing the around 10 a.m. we’ve pointed them out to people who thought they were just sea spray. We’re usually sitting on the balcony with a morning beverage, playing cards so we don’t miss them.
Cruising Lynne Posted October 6, 2021 #6 Share Posted October 6, 2021 My husband and I also love watching for the flying fish. The first time I saw them I pointed them out to my husband. I thought it was strange that this group of birds kept disappearing under the water for long periods of time. My husband laughed and said it was because they were fish, not birds! In my defense, we were observing them from pretty high up.
ebay33 Posted October 6, 2021 #7 Share Posted October 6, 2021 They are great to watch. Once you lock on to one with the binoculars, you can follow it for quite awhile. The tricky part is getting them in your view because they move so fast.
