If you are a vaccinated US citizen flying back to the US from Barcelona on NCL debarkation day, how/where is Covid testing handled in order to fly home (United)?

Thanks!

Check with NCL.  I believe they provide the necessary tests for this on board the ship the day or so before you disembark.

Thank you!  I also discovered they do testing at the Barcelona airport!

You can do PCR/Antigen covid testing at Barcelona airport.

  • Barcelona Airport Terminal 1 - 3rd floor in the commercial area El Mirador - From Monday to Sunday: 3:00 – 19:00
  • and at Barcelona Airport Terminal 1 ground 0 - From Monday to Sunday: 9:00 – 18:00

On our cruise  that ended a few days ago, the port authorities tested (antigen) us when we debarked in Barcelona. It was required as part of debarking there. As a side effect of that, we got a paper with the result that we could use to fly home.

I don't know if the debarkation test occurs that way for all cruises. Barcelona was our first Spanish port.

I didn't know that would happen so had brought the eMed proctored test kits with me. I decided to use one anyway. (They expire and I wanted to see whether there were any issues to know how good an option it would be for future trips.) It was pretty easy. I did it over the hotel's WiFi. The proctor showed up online within a couple of minutes of launching the session. I received the email with results minutes after the session ended and showed that on my phone at the airport.

If one was going directly from the ship to the airport, I guess an issue might be whether one had good enough connectivity via ship WiFi or cellular for the video link. You need to be able to wash your hands right before doing the test, the test needs to sit flat & undisturbed for 15 minutes before reading the results.
