What happens to itinerary if Cayman is closed?

As title states, what happens if Cayman is closed? Do they just skip that port or re-shuffle everything? Like a completely different itinerary? TIA!

I'm sure that it varies by cruise line and ship, but for 2 sailings of the NCL Escape they simply replaced it with a sea day.

We've had this happen several times over the years:

Always another day AT SEA.

When it's too bad to tender, it's too bad for any sort of beach/water sports.

I have a cruise on Carnival Vista out of Galveston on January 8, 2022. Cayman is one of the ports and I, too, would like to know what will be subbed. If changed to a sea day, will I get a refund of port fees? Will Carnival let me know of the change in advance or will it just be a "surprise" once on board?

 

Articles I've read about this seems like the change may be permanent, unlike Key West which is still up in the air. Later in 2022 I have two cruises with Key West as a port, but that's far enough out a lot could change.

I noticed today that our April 2022 Carnival cruise has Costa Maya in the place of Grand Cayman.  Glad to have a substitute port instead of a third sea day.
