Crazy about cruising Posted May 10, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 10, 2004 Welcome Back! Glad to hear you had great time. If you don't mind I have a few questions. What time were you able to get on the ship? Did you have to go through immigration before you got off the ship in Tortola? What was the cruise directors name? What time did you get off the ship last week back in NY? And of course like everyone else I can't wait to hear every last detail. Laura- can you think of anything else specific we need to know? Thanks, Nancy

Guest Posted May 11, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 11, 2004 We were on the Legend that cruise too. We arrived in New York to embark at 10:15 AM and were in line immediately. We were on board by 11:30 and in our room which was ready. (6189) It was a great suite and a wonderful balcony. We were having lunch on the Lido deck before 12:30. Sail away was delayed to 5Pm and passangers were still coming on board at that time. Possibly delayed flights. This was our first time on Carnival and we had a great time. We usually go NCL. I was truly impressed. The food was great, the rooms were kept wonderfully and Camp Carnival kept the kids out of sight most of the time. It was a good time of year as schools were in session. Enjoyed the shows. Had early seating but did not go to speciality restaurants. Bought soda cards and found them useful. Never had a delay or never was ignored as a result. Got refills without any trouble. Seas were a bit rough going down and many in the rear cabins were ill the first few days. Pizza is awesome as reported and 24 hrs available. No customs going into Tortola..disimbarkment went very fast. Customs in New York were very easy. No delay. If you can carry off your own luggage, you may disembark the ship first and early. Many first timers, very ethnicly deversified group of passangers. Very down to earth and sociable. Anything else?

Rustynail Posted May 11, 2004 #10 Share Posted May 11, 2004 I sailed the Legend in Jan 03 and also loved the ship. So many good things to say about it including the best food yet, great fun loving staff and a terrific set up overall. You'd never go wrong booking this ship that is for sure. FIRELT5 Posted May 11, 2004 #11 Share Posted May 11, 2004 We also did return from the 4-29-2004 Voyage and did enjoy our cruise. The only negatives that we thought was that the Food in the dinning room was poor at best. The food in the Unicorn for breakfast and lunch was the best after 14 cruises. Our Cabin was a cat 8I Room#8275 which was in the AFT section. The view was great, but the garbage from cleaning(washing deck down@night) and passangers was somewhat fustrating. We would Sails on the Legend in a Heartbeat. Best prices for Booz are in St. Thomas. Excursion prices ranged from $29.00--$149.00 PP. Any question, Feel free to e-mail me. CaiT34 Posted May 11, 2004 #12 Share Posted May 11, 2004 I only went on two cruises in the past three years (Victory n Legend). I loved Carnival Legend. Im 16 years old and went with a big group of family and friends. My sisters and I had a lot of fun in Club Merlin at the teen discos, we met a lot of kids our age. We had a balcony room I think it was room 7276 or 7176. I thought the view in the mornings that we were at the islands were beautifuul. I recomend this cruise to everyone. And I just found out im going on the Carnival Legend again in 2005!!! i cant wait!! CaiT<

pgmrdev Posted May 11, 2004 #15 Share Posted May 11, 2004 We will be on the Legend on 6-8-2004. It will be nice to be on a relatively newer Carnival ship. Our last 2 have been on Paradise and Destiny and I thought they were showing their age. Was very tempted to take the Miracle instead but spending a week and only going to the Bahamas and Florida was not that exciting. Preferred the Legend itinerary and also the 8 days.

Grand Princess 2-2001 Grand Princess 12-2001 Carnival Paradise 3-2002 Carnival Destiny 10-2002 Golden Princess 10-2003 Carnival Legend 6-8-2004

diggerhawk Posted May 14, 2004 #19 Share Posted May 14, 2004 We are going on the Legend 7/10/2004. I was just wondering what shore excursions you took, especially what to do in San Juan. Who was the cruise director? How was boarding in New York. I hear it is very crowded. Thanks for the info. Wendy
diggerhawk Posted May 18, 2004 #20 Share Posted May 18, 2004 Can you book shore tours through the tv in your room or do you need to do it through the shore excursion desk on the Legend?
lasifguvui5uh Posted May 19, 2004 #21 Share Posted May 19, 2004 Going on the Legend 6/16/04. Just got the docs today. The docs say the stop in Tortola is "Operational stop for Virgin Gorda tour debarkation only". Does this mean I can't get off the ship unless I book their tour, or am I reading this wrong? There was no mention of Tortola being an "operational stop" when I booked or on the Carnival website now.
pgmrdev Posted May 19, 2004 #22 Share Posted May 19, 2004 Hey CruisingIsLife: Just went out to check out your website. As a programmer and web developer, I am always critiquing sites. You should hire a pro to do your website to add a professional look to it. You'd be surprised at what a difference it would make.

Grand Princess 2-2001 Grand Princess 12-2001 Carnival Paradise 3-2002 Carnival Destiny 10-2002 Golden Princess 10-2003 Carnival Legend 6-8-2004

irishrose Posted July 1, 2004 #25 Share Posted July 1, 2004 I love San Juan.. we got off the ship and walked to Fort El Morro. Then we walked all over Old San Juan taking pictures of the beautiful architicure and sampling the restaurants and bars. We went to Senor Frogs and then walked up a couple of blocks from there where they had outdoor salsa bands playing. In St. Thomas we took a ferry over to St. John and rented jeeps and rode all over the island and went snorkling on Cinnamon Bay beach. Beautiful. Snorkling equip was $5.00. Beautiful ship. Cruise director was Brett Allens. Everything was great including the shows, food and service.
