PAULINELESLEY Posted November 29, 2021 #1 Share Posted November 29, 2021 Can anyone who has been on the Caribbean cruise lately confirm how things are going, are you allowed to get off the ship and wander off on your visit to the islands?
cruiseej Posted November 29, 2021 #2 Share Posted November 29, 2021 I have not been on since early October, but I can tell you that the rules vary according to the origin of your cruise. Cruises from Barbados follow Barbados-imposed rules, which limit visits to other islands to ship excursions; cruises from Miami allow free travel ashore on an island by island basis according to local rules and regulations. This is all spelled out on web page of travel advisories, which is linked at the top of the Seabourn website. I see that the Barbados section has recently been updated to include cruises departing from Sint Maarten as well. For the cruises originating in Barbados and Sint Maarten, Seabourn says ship excursions are required in. these ports: Bridgetown, Barbados Gatun Lake, Panama Cabrits, Dominica Roseau, Dominica Saint George’s, Grenada Basseterre, St. Kitts & Nevis Carambola Beach, St. Kitts & Nevis Charlestown, St. Kitts & Nevis Port Elizabeth, St. Vincent & the Grenadines Saline Bay, St. Vincente & the Grenadines Castries, St. Lucia Rodney Bay, St. Lucia Oh, and all rules in effect today may change by tomorrow. 😉 (Especially with concerns about the new Omicron variant, I wouldn't be surprised to see some quick clampdowns until more is known about whether/how big a threat it is to public safety.)
