ajones Posted May 10, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 10, 2004 If you sailed on the Glory eastern voyage last week, I'd love to know how your cruise went! We leave in 5 days and would like to hear how you liked the ship, ports, etc. Also, how was the weather? I know it's been very windy over the last few weeks in that area, and we wonder if that has subsided yet.
handbellplayer Posted May 10, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 10, 2004 Just got off on Saturday and had a wonderful time! I plan to write a review soon, but I'll answer your specific questions. We didn't get off the ship in Nassau (been there, done that, don't care for it!), we liked St. Thomas and we LOVED St. Maartin. The ship rocked more than my other cruises, but I'm not sure whether that was a Glory issue or sea conditions. The weather was beautiful; we had rain Thursday morning until noon or so. As far as wind, it was always breezy on the deck, but I've never been on a cruise where it wasn't. There was only part of one day when it was uncomfortably windy, but I just found a sheltered spot on deck that day. A couple of quick notes no time for more - sorry! Eat in the Emerald Room - it was spectacular and well worth the $25/person. I thought the shopping in St. Martin was MUCH better than in St. Thomas (if you're not shopping for $10,000 jewelry, that is). If you have any specific questions, I'd be glad to answer them. Have a wonderful cruise! ajones Posted May 10, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted May 10, 2004 Thanks so much for your reply....by uncomfortably windy, did you see a lot of people get sea sick due to the rocky conditions? Did you feel sick yourself? What kind of room did you have? Did you notice a smoky smell thruought the ship? I'm sure I'll have more questions as they come to me! handbellplayer Posted May 10, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 10, 2004 By uncomfortably windy, I meant it was hard to hold onto my book and towel. I felt slightly queasy one day and my husband did twice, but a non-drowzy Dramamine fixed us both up quickly. I only noticed the smoke in the bars when I was near smokers. They have designated a lot more areas non-smoking, including all of the outside starboard decks and several of the bar areas are non-smoking, I think. I definitely DID NOT think the whole ship smelled smoky. We had a 8C balcony room aft on the Verandah deck. It was noisy sometimes due to the Red Sail being above us, but I loved the cabin. DHB Posted May 10, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 10, 2004 We are sailing ( 4 of us ) on June 5 on the Western cruise and since you, Handbellplayer, are right next door ( Cary to Raleigh ), I would love to hear more of your experience. We also have a 8C aft cabin on the port side and would like to know more about the noises your heard. Get in touch.
