Pudgesmom Posted February 24, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 24, 2006 We will be flying in around noon, and would like to spend some time at a beach convenient to both the airport and pier, if such a place exists. Our Windstar cruise does not leave until 11 pm. Mostly we would just like a beautiful spot with chairs and umbrellas for rent and maybe a good beach restaurant. Can anyone help? Thank in advance. Sunniebgi Posted February 24, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 24, 2006 HI Beth, First of all, which carrier are you flying into Barbados on that gets you here around noon. especially if you are coming from Texas.. (sorry to be nosey, but most flights from the states don't get here until after 1pm or 2pm. I would usually recommend Accra Beach but Sundays are busy days on that beach, so it might not be what you are looking for. If you are interested, you could stop at Accra at the Sugar Reef Restaurant, have a nice meal, enjoy the beach for a while and then head off to the port. While there might be a few people around, it might be less croweded than other parts of that beach. I wouldn't suggest going to the port first as checkin doesn't begin until after 4pm. You could go as far as Weisers on the Bay just north of the port going up the west coast. have a good day in Barbados and enjoy the WindSurf.. one of my favorite ships. Pudgesmom Posted February 24, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted February 24, 2006 Thanks for your quick reply. We're actually going to spend the night in either Miami or San Juan, and then fly down in the morning. Haven't actually booked a flight yet. So if this Accra Beach is crowded on Sundays, is there another where we might enjoy fewer people? beth
loisswanson Posted February 24, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 24, 2006 Another nice beach area near the pier is Carlisle Bay - it's almost walkable. First you will come upon The Boatyard where they have food, chair rentals, etc. If you continue farther up the beach, it's an area that is not crowded and very enjoyable. Sunniebgi Posted February 24, 2006 #5 Share Posted February 24, 2006 Carlisle bay may also be busy, .. Sunday's are Beach Days for Barbadians. having said that, down by the BoatYard might be your best bet.. You can stop, get lunch, enjoy the beach and have changing facilities as well. There is a charge for the facilities but you get it back at the bar.
thatbloominplace Posted February 25, 2006 #6 Share Posted February 25, 2006 just a suggestion. since you have not booked your flight yet, why not come into barbados a day early and stay a night there? the accra beach hotel or blue orchid hotel are nice local ones with beautiful beaches. more upscale is the hilton barbados. beautiful place, just sent a week there. all three have nice beaches and are relaxing as well as a short ride to the port.
