jini Posted February 28, 2006 #78 Share Posted February 28, 2006 People you need to "get a life''. Anything short of another "9-11'' I don't want to know about it. How anyone can even think about watching TV news while on VACATION is beyond me. It's the same boring information day after day. Learn to relax and enjoy the cruise you're paying big bucks for. Just an opinion.
Brucemcdou Posted March 1, 2006 #79 Share Posted March 1, 2006 I admit that I want to know what's going on when I'm on vacation, but I also vacation to expose myself to different points of view. Since I'm an American, I don't want to see "US-centric" news when I travel, I want to hear a different voice. So BBC International, definitely. Sky News, perhaps. Canadian news? The German news channel (DB?), yes - I watch them at home ocassionally, they're better than most US news outlets. And why not a French and a Spanish station? Not all cruisers are from the US, nor do all US cruisers want to hear a US viewpoint over and over again. Most TV news is of the "puppy falls down the well, rescued by firefighters" variety - but it's more interesting when it's somewhere else!
surfklutz Posted March 1, 2006 #80 Share Posted March 1, 2006 Have you watched CNN Europe - absolutely the worst coverage! I was in cruising in the Med. during Katrina and you would have thought that entire US was wiped off the face of the earth and it was all Bush's doing by the sounds of it. While it was an awful experience - I was glad to get back to the states to find out what actually was happening. And all the reporters have a smirk on their face when they report bad US news - kind of saying - "they deserve everything they get". Give me any station other than CNN Europe!
