Cruisecare Travel Insurance

Recommended Posts

The pros to cruise care is the cancel for any reason option where you get 75% of your penalties back in a future cruise credit if you cancel for a non medical reason.

The cons are that cruisecare does not cover pre existing conditions, is a second party payer (you put any medical bills through your own insurance first and they cruise care picks up the difference, and that sometimes it is more expensive. Also, if you buy your air or a hotel outside of the cruiseline, those are not covered under your insurance.

Outside insurance companies like Travelex, base the insurance rate on how much you are paying for the trip and your age. If you are traveling with children, they do not charge for their insurance. They have a pre existing condition waiver if you buy the insurance within 21 days of your initial deposit.

Both have good reputaions for taking care of the passengers. You need to look at the cost differences and weigh your options for what is best for you.

Hope this helped:)

One thing is that cruisecare does not cover you if an inlaw ( MIL, FIL, BIL, SIS, son in law etc) becomes sick/dies....only immediate family.

You need to re-check their definition of "Immediate Family Member". Parents-in-law, brother/sister-in-law, and son/daughter-in-law are all specifically included under the definition.
