Cash works best here. Except (at least in the US) tips are reportable earned income for tax purposes. Also while on the subject, ALL casino winning are fully taxable no matter the amount. Guest Services just told me they won’t individually get it. That’s a bummer and figured I would post here as we would have brought a lot more cash if I would have known we could not add to our room account. It’s been 6 years since our last cruise, but this was possible in the past but seems like it’s not possible anymore. There are no "prepaid gratuities" other than on dining and drink packages. I think you are referring to the DSC.

I could be wrong but we have just got off a cruise (Gem 30/4) We tipped our Steward who was wonderful but didn’t tip our Butler at all (think we saw him twice the whole trip) Bar staff we kept a roll of 1’s that we used frequently. All of this cash was troused as we gave it and there’s no way it was reported
