skypilotks Posted February 26, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 26, 2006 It was a nice surpise to get onboard and find out they have WiFi with about 8 hotspots. About 2 weeks before the cruise I was told by a RCCI rep that there wasn't any WiFi. and was told the same on here!!
Dawniepoo Posted February 26, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 26, 2006 Maybe I will rethink bringing my laptop!
critterchick Posted February 26, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 26, 2006 RCI says that all of its ships have Wifi now. We were able to use our laptop in our cabin on Vision, but they don't guarantee that kind of access.
ORANGEinINDY Posted February 26, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 26, 2006 Is there a charge for the Wi-Fi? If so how much?
skypilotks Posted February 26, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted February 26, 2006 Yes, $0.50 a min. unless you get prepaid $50 for 150min,(ie 0.33 a min) One word of advice, if you have C&A coupon for money off internet, check and see if they will apply to prepaid! BTW I read that about every ship having WiFi a month or so ago, but reading comments on here saying GoS didn't have, and then calling RCCI a few weeks ago, and asking, I was told not availibly on GoS! But it is there!!
critterchick Posted February 27, 2006 #6 Share Posted February 27, 2006 Another shining example of RCI customer service, I'm afraid. The purser on Vision told me it wasn't available, but I was able to sign up anyway. I guess if the people onboard don't know, we can't expect the CSRs in Miami to.....
sabri Posted February 27, 2006 #7 Share Posted February 27, 2006 I was there with my Laptop just this past week. There is really no advantage to having your laptop as opposed to just using the ship's computers, the price is the same. I thought it would cost less to use my laptop, but no such luck. I suppose the one advantage would be that you could go to other hotspots besides the internet area on deck
skypilotks Posted February 27, 2006 Author #8 Share Posted February 27, 2006 Well the other advantage is you can offline write your e-mails, and then just log-on and send, kinda like how we used to do it when all the ISP's charged by the minute!! Which Hotspot did you use?? I was mostly in the lib.
