_tacocat_ Posted May 5, 2022 #2 Share Posted May 5, 2022 The upgraded wifi isn't additional bandwidth, it just unblocks ports so you're able to stream. We had no problem doing facetime audio on the normal wifi. We weren't 100% sure if our "wifi" calling/texting was actually using the wifi or reverting to cellular and didn't want to rack up crazy roaming charges, so we just used facetime/imessage. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Your mileage will vary on whether traditional voice calls and text messages will work over your carriers WiFi option. My wife, for instance, was unable to send or receive text messages at all but iMessages and other internet based services worked just fine.
