REFRESHING OBSERVATIONS FROM THE SEASHORE

Well it's 10 am last day and the captain has made 3 attempts to enter the narrows into Ocean Cay. Will keep us informed.

MSC should have devised a more reliable approach. Cruisers on Carnival and HAL must also roll the dice for their Half Moon Cay, because it is tendered. But, supposedly, a deep-water dock is to be constructed soon.

Once that is built, I think that will leave only MSC at the mercy of winds/chop, among the various lines' private islands.

Finally docked at 1:30. All aboard at 7:30. Only  food trucks will be open for dining.

In a similar situation, we'd likely remain on the ship. I hope the ship's YC amenities are to remain available, seeing as a half-hearted Ocean Cay scenario isn't a fair trade.

And of course every bar will be fully stocked. Been told that the MSC employees that stay on the island have 2 year contracts. Went to TopSail Lounge for escort down but too many YCers grouped together so we took the stairs to deck 4 than being crammed into elevator. Two exits off ship. Very hot on island. Very long line and wait for YC trolley to Ocean House so we walked to nearby shops and DW did her 'thing' (OC logo shorts and tote bag). Walked back to ship at 2:30.

Finally got my gift bottle of JD after breakfast this last day. I hope these 3 bottles tide my TA over til next month.

So YC cabins get to choose one bottle of liquor. The Brut and Aneri were the diamond status and yacht club offerings. My times have changed since our last cruise. Last time we got one bottle of bubbly for YC and one bottle for being black members.

One thing I loved was the restocked mini bar every day. Son and I raided those chips and other snacks in the evening.

Tonight was a good last evening. Went to the Cabaret Rouge for Bailey Panois in "Disco Cowgirl".Left during second song to get a good seat in the Brooklyn Cafe for the Jazz Quartet with the male vocalist until their next break when we went back to the TopSail Lounge for our 8:50 appointment with our personal butler Kevin who got us into the Madison Theatre early for seats for the only show of the evening at 9:30. The show is called "Amore" and it was standing room only and got a thunderous standing ovation. Getting into the Madison Theatre early we were treated to several rehearsal testings on stage so we opted for a front row seat in the empty theatre. Lucky we did. We learned that being so close to the stage was also too close to the sound system so we moved back to our favorite seats in the YC reserved section.

There was no lighthouse light show since we left Ocean Cay at 7:30 and the weather turned a bit sprinklely.

Had a fabulous time due entirely to the staff of the Yacht Club. Hope to be back very soon for a repeat as long as DW keeps working to keep me in a manner to which I have become accustomed.

We just got off the Seashore on Saturday, May 21st and absolutely loved the cruise. We were in the YC, by low bid, and had a fantastic cruise. Very good food, good drinks throughout the ship, the shows were good throughout, knowing in advance what the shows were like. The service was fantastic, again, throughout the ship. I'm not going to go day by day or anything like that. It was our 3rd cruise, and onc you get over their land customer service, on board is a different world. There doesn't seem to be any shortage of crew anywhere, or choice of drinks anywhere, unlike the American cruise lines, which we've been on twice post Covid. While on board we booked the Divina for the 3rd time for next year because of the itinerary. I definitely recommend the Seashore. Very beautiful ship with a great crew.

I assume the phrase sounds more muted up there in the back!😉

It took me a couple of days to process this tidbit of vital information. So I thought it would be of value and appreciated by those that choose the Yacht Club. MSC knows their clientele. Please see attached reminder in bulletin below. Etiquette. We witnessed shoes being removed and bare feet placed on the chairs in Cabaret Rouge, or sofas all around the ship; guests not covering their mouths and coughing in the Madison Theatre. We found the safest spot in the Madison Theatre was in the separated YC section in the back, generally away from and 'up wind' from the etiquette violators (for the most part).

I really hope I'm not offending anyone here with the following statement, but it's my observation. Outside of the YC,  passenger wise it's like Carnival. The overall behavior is the same, from taking shoes off or not but putting feet on a table to not letting people off an elevator before pushing to get on. I've sailed both ways on MSC, and would never go back to a non YC cabin, just as I won't go on another Carnival cruise.

I concur with Morpheus on being in the YC...not going back!  For the price point, we just find it the best value-to-service at sea.  I will add that we do sail on 30% discount Casino rates + 5% Voyagers Club  stacked on top, so that attests to MSC's Casino Dept service, too!

I am negligent in posting my cruise report from the Seashore YC back on the April 9th sailing...it's on my Summer break (I'm a teacher) to-do list, though.  But your day-by-day reporting makes me feel like I'm already back on the ship...thank you so much!

Working on Meravigilia for Nov out of Port Canaveral 🙂

My wife is going to try to rack up enough "action" to receive one of those 30% discount vouchers.

As I understand it, the discount is not applicable to the top two YC room categories. Other than that, do you have any procedural tips to share?

Thank you, kindly, in advance.

Not sure about the top 2 YC categories as we've only sailed in YC1 and YC9 cabins (def recommend a YC9 if you can get them...about 3-4ft wider room). So, I'll speak from our experience if Morpheus doesn't mind me going off topic on his thread?

Actually, you've motivated me to just start another thread on this topic, so keep watching the forum board!

By all means ! Everyones input is much appreciated and gives me more avenues I might have missed these past cruises, to investigate on upcoming cruises.

I am quoting myself because in rereading this post we asked ourselves why ? Usually it is bittersweet. But since this pandemic thing that hit us all,  the approximately 2 years of ships sidelined, and our ages,  we drastically upped our cruise game and have booked cruises 9 months out of 12, instead of 3. We are definitely making up for lost time. Do not want to look back and say we should have cruised more. Do not think anyone could look back and say they cruised too much.

I luv your attitude! Yes! Yes! Yes!

Wasn't there a Country song that had a line, "no one's ever put on their tombstone that I wish I would have spent more time at work!" Yours will say, "they cruised until the ships wore out!"
