yep, stay on the ship :)

Obviously you don't like Jamaica....

Ocho Rios has nice port shopping / restaurant area called the village. At least take the time to check that out if you don't go on an excursion.

We have been to Jamaica 17 times so we have done most to the popular excursions/tours.

The bamboo raft is a relaxing excusion. You drift on a bamboo raft that was used in the old days for transporting bananas (it has a seat on it). Martha Brae is one of 3 in Jamaica: http://www.jamaicarafting.com/

Also the bike ride in the mountains is nice and different.

The horseback riding in the ocean is fun. Chukkacove has several things to do: http://www.chukkacaribbean.com/jamaica/index.html

Here is a couple of tour operators in the area:

Since it sounds like you have not been to Jamaica previously please don't stay on the ship - form your own opinion. You may not like, but you also may ended loving it. Jamaica is a beautiful country with a lot of history. White River tubing was a lot of fun and a relaxing way to spend a couple hours or so. If you don't want to do Dunns River Falls, there is the Ian Fleming Estate, Appleton Rum tours, Island Village as mentioned, Fern Gully, Mahogany Beach, there are also many all-inclusive resorts that will allow to spend a day at their resort for a fee. So many things.

STAY AWAY!! Don't waste your time with this one. We went and were very disappointed. Our scheduled time was 9:30 there next "show" wasn't until 10:30. So while we waited , they had a fashion show. yup, the sales girls and the DJ danced and shook their booties at us. This wasn't to bad, but when ya do get called ,they tape up all of your jewelry so you don't hurt the dolphin. This takes about 15 minute's. Then it down to the water. Our "trainer" had the dolphin swim by us twice, stick out your hand and try to touch the thing as it swims by. They did allow us to put our hands under the dolphins nose and kiss it. We bought the pic and the DVD. pics were about 10.00 US and the DVD was 35.00 US. The DVD was a total waste of money. It is 2 minute's and 45 seconds long and about 40 seconds is viewable. A black line runs across the top and ya cant see anybody, just legs and feet. Oh, and the motorboat dolphin as it speeds back and forth mocking you as you try to touch it. hahahahaha. but this is the clincher, when I wrote to Dolphin Cove they tried to pass off the black line in the DVD as a shadow from the pier where we got taped up. This is why I'm writing, so nobody else has to waste time and money.

I found out later that my niece and her friend also were greatly disappointed whit their excursion at ripoff cove uh , Dolphin Cove.
