Chrish2 Posted May 22, 2022 #1 Share Posted May 22, 2022 We have two cruises booked back to back with Virgin Voyages and have a significant amount of onboard cash to spend (thanks covid doubling our money, thanks Jlo for the extra cash), to the point we are a bit lost on what to spend it on. It would seem wasteful overpaying ship rates for excursions and things like cabanas don't excite us in the least. The recent post re cooking classes made me wonder ... what paid experiences are available onboard? Do they have any or is everything complementary? solotrip Posted May 22, 2022 #2 Share Posted May 22, 2022 I haven't been onboard since Nov 2021, but there wasn't many paid onboard activities -- I believe there was trivia game you paid to enter. Other than that: spa passes and treatments, makeup services, shopping, casino, upcharge items at restaurants, wine/beer pairing at Test Kitchen, there's also a fee if you no show a fitness class you booked. I heard there was a charge for the karaoke rooms, but I wasn't charged. I ran into a couple with lots of loot to burn -- they got massages, facials, haircut, lots of drinks, souvenirs, and finally excursions.
jon81uk Posted May 22, 2022 #3 Share Posted May 22, 2022 There is a cocktail and food photography class and a pub crawl that are both charged for. Think there is bingo on Scarlet Lady too (we didn’t see it on Valiant). Otherwise not many activities are extra costs, except for the obvious like spa, treatments, haircuts etc. pub quiz (trivia), game shows, shows, karaoke, workouts are all free. I actually think the excursion rates on VV are quite resonable when compared to most others lines
CruzinMermaid Posted May 24, 2022 #5 Share Posted May 24, 2022 As with Cloud9 Bob, the shore things are pretty reasonable with VV. And, they book locals to organize the tours so you're putting money back into the local economy. that said here are some of the paid thing's I know about shot for shot - photography and cocktails food of the gods - photography and plating afternoon tea at Sip shopping (sea days) spa tattoo salon casino
