My cruise sold out, now what??! Help!

Oh Poop.

I waited too long to book my Glory cruise in November. Who would have thought that a cruise in early November would sell out so quickly???? Well, it's not 100% sold out, there are inside cabins available, but I want a balconey, and the insides are going for $800 now! I think it's because the Currents coupon had a deal for balconey's for $799

So now, I am going to have to pick another cruise, and I don't wanna! I was really looking forward to sailing on the Glory and I really liked the Itinerary. There is a similar itinerary available on the Century ( Celebrity). I am not sure if I'm ready to try Celebrity, not that I wouldn't fit in, I'm fine there, but will I have as much fun with them as I would on a Carnival ship. Now that I'm cruiseless, I need to find another one, Help me!

If you didn't book in the first place, how could you now be "cruiseless"?

Checking expedia, I see that CCL has 21 Eastern cruises listed between 1 Nov and 6 Dec. I'm sure you'll find something.

All is not lost. Keep checking availability as people do occasionally cancel before final payment date.

See, I wanted to sail the Western Caribbean Itinerary, and the next one available is too close to Thanksgiving. I would have booked it a long time ago, but my husband keeps procrastinating - (it's his turn to buy the cruise) We also want to cruise with some friends, but we need to sit down with them and go over stuff and decide where they want to go as well - I wanted to make sure that they were cool with the itinerary as well. I didn't think we needed to book 6 months in advance. Another thing is that there is always the chance that the husband or I could end up having to go on a TDY for work or something and the cruies insurance doesn't cover that. I guess I was dumb to assume that I could wait until the last minute to book a cruise for the off-season.

I might look into RCCL or Celebrity....or should I just try another Carnival ship?

I would, but November is really the only good time for us to go. We have to go meet my family in Disneyland in December to celebrate my niece's 1st birthday.

I was doing some browsing and came across some interesting itineraries. There is a 15 day Panama Canal re-positioning cruise aboard the Paradise in September. I would love to do that one, but I'm not sure if I would be able to take that much time off of work, and it would be a long time to be away from the doggies. Another thing is that we want to cruise with some friends, and one of them would be a first timer- I don't know if a 15 day cruise is the best idea for somebody who hasn't cruised before.

They have more or less the same thing offered abord the Ecstasy just going in the opposite direction. I'm a little leary of the older ships and being on one for so long. The itinerary is awesome though. I've always wanted to transit through the Panama Canal!

Did you try checking other dot.com sites? Some actually have different rooms available like a Ticketmaster setup. They may have one left, like buy cruises, trevelocity, expedia whoever.

Some travel agents get a block of rooms. When I went on the Spirit, I could not get a room except with a group agency. Others and even Carnival... said "sold out." I booked with the group and on we went. Also... some agents will put down a deposit for cabins they feel are more desirable. When it comes time for final payment, if they haven't sold them, they will let them go. So... you may not be totally out of luck. Nancy

You need to check all the on line TAs, They put holds on blocks of rooms.

Vacations to go and cruises only have outside and balcony cabins listed for the Nov 6, cruise.

Also once final payment is due alot of rooms open up. So even if you take an oceanview now I'm sure a balcony will open up.

Since you brought up the subject of your signature line, I have a question. Why do you list a cruise that you never took in your signature? It's not like I could ask you a question about the Legend since you haven't sailed on her. Just curious icon_confused.gif

Enjoy the evening, and good luck with your booking!

Yo-

You may want to try Crucon - they are Carnivals largest T/A - and are "known" for having groups of rooms available to them on most Carnival cruises-

I would give them a call to check the availability of a balcony room on your "sold out" cruise-

It is very possible that a corporation as booked the majority of the ship during that time. I know the Carnival Conquest has a "Nascar" cruise scheduled in December. That may be the cruise that Carnival has booked for the Past Guest Cruise. I just checked the Carnival site and they are only showing the ones that are still available but I do remember them having a a Past Guest Cruise on the Glory but don't remember the date so this is a possibility.

We are doing the Legend in November and the prices are alot better and lots of balcony cabins available. You are welcome to join us! We are sailing right after Thanksgiving. My BIL is getting married aboard the ship so we have about 30 of us going!

It also couldn't hurt to check with ***** dot com -- enter the relevant data and they'll bid it out to the dozens of travel agents that work under their umbrella.

Yeah, that's true, I need to take that off, I had the Legend posted when we booked, then after I had to cancel, I added that on - I was so excited about going on that cruise too! But when somebody in the family gets really sick, you can't take any chances that you'll be in Panama when you are needed back home.

i am not postive, but is that the glory cruise that oldies 107 is hosting with the turtles/paul reviere and the raiders, and bj thomas, they keep saying it on the radio and it is the glory and is in november and is western carib. so that may be why it is sold out so soon,

Don't give up hope completely! Back in November there was an error in booking one of the four cabins for my family's cruise on the Miracle next weekend, so the deposit for one cabin was never charged and the booking dropped! My mother didn't catch it until the ship was showing "sold out". She called Carnival and was wait-listed...a couple of days before final payment was due a few cabins opened up and she got one. The week after final payment a whole bunch of cabins opened. So I would say if this particular sailing is really what you want get yourself wait-listed for a balcony or go with a guarantee & hope for a visit from the upgrade fairy. icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks for all of the help everyone! Ooh, an oldies convention on the ship? Not that I'm against oldies, but unless oldies includes 80's music, this would not be the sailing for me! I'm okay with some 70's stuff ( I was born in 75) but older than that, I'm not sure.......

There are a lot of other options out there. I was looking at the different "Voyager" Class ships - there are some good options out there. The Rhapsody out of Galvenston has a cool itinerary where they dock at Key West until 1am - which I would love. Are cruising partners are in New Mexico, so Texas might be more convenient for them. I really want to cruise on the newer ships, but it's a cruise, so I guess it's all good. I was just really looking forward to the Glory.
