weazie Posted February 27, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 27, 2006 Hi All, I would love to do a cave tubing excursion while we are in Belize, but my husband is claustrophobic and is very worried. Should he be concerned? How confined are the spaces in the caves? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
davidaperryman Posted February 27, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 27, 2006 The caves are very large but dark. You will each have a head lamp. The guide will be right there with you.
Linda @ Sea Sports Belize Posted February 28, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 28, 2006 The cave height varies according to amount of rain. In many areas the ceiling is high, but in some areas it is low. We took a good friend tubing who was claustrophobic. He made it a little ways into the cave, but when the ceiling became low the guide had to take him back to the cave entrance. I would recommend that you check with your doctor who knows your husband's level of claustrophobia. If the doctor gives the go ahead then let the tour operator know well in advance before you begin your tour.
